About ATCompass
A free resource for finding assistive technology and understanding how to pay for it.
Why this exists
While researching services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania and Maryland, I kept running into the same problem: families couldn't find the technology that could help their loved ones, and even when they could, figuring out how to pay for it was overwhelming.
The information was out there, scattered across state agency websites, provider directories, waiver manuals, and word of mouth. But no single place brought it all together in plain language. So I built one.
What ATCompass is
ATCompass is a free, independent resource that helps families and professionals:
- Discover assistive technology products that support communication, safety, daily living, and more
- Find community programs and services in Pennsylvania and Maryland
- Navigate the funding landscape: Medicaid waivers, state AT programs, loans, grants, and alternatives
Everything on this site is researched, written in plain English, and designed for the people who actually need it, not just the professionals who already understand the system.
Important disclaimers
ATCompass is not:
- A medical device or clinical tool. Nothing here constitutes medical advice.
- A replacement for working with your support coordinator, case manager, or care team.
- An endorsement of any specific product or provider. Inclusion in the directory does not imply recommendation.
Funding information is researched carefully but changes frequently. Waiver caps, program eligibility, and contact information can shift with policy updates. Always verify details with your waiver program or state agency before making decisions.
